Another High Fire Danger alert for North Georgia

The National Weather Service has issued a High Fire Danger alert for all of North and Central Georgia today due to dry weather conditions.

Despite cooler than normal temperatures, forecasters say the dry air will cause relative humidity values to fall below 25 percent for several hours this afternoon. Winds will be fairly light but surface fuels and other brush are dry, increasing potential fire dangers in the region. With rain in the forecast on Friday, those conditions should improve.

Outdoor burn permits

Authorities temporarily stopped issuing burn permits on Wednesday in Habersham, White, and other counties.

For updates on burn permits, visit the Georgia Forestry Commission website. Residents of Cornelia and Clarkesville may also contact their local fire departments.
