The man charged in the cold case murder of a University of Georgia law student pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Tuesday. In May, Edrick Lamont Faust was arrested for the 2001 killing of Tara Louise Baker. Her body was found inside her apartment which had been set on fire.

Faust is facing several charges, including murder, rape, aggravated assault, and arson. The defense asked for a $100,000 bond with house arrest and monitoring.

District Attorney Deborah Gonzalez said Faust had an extensive criminal record and was a flight risk.

Judge Lisa Lott denied the bond request by the defense.
