NGTC Phi Beta Lambda Students Win Big at State Event

The NGTC Blairsville Campus was selected as PBL Chapter of the Year and advisor Mona Williams (middle row, third from right) was selected as Advisor of the Year.

The North Georgia Technical College Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Clarkesville Chapter recently competed at the PBL North District Conference. The delegation traveled to Atlanta for the state competition, and the students competed in various contests and networking events.

Students competing were Susie Berry of Cleveland, Jesse O’Dell of Clarkesville, Melissa Klopschinski of Blairsville, Heather Wells of Copperhill, Tenn., Charles Russell of Young Harris, Sherri Karr of Ellijay, Nicole May of Blairsville, Ryan Fountain of Rabun Gap, Ashley Hill of Dillard, Ashley Stephens of Blairsville and Rachael Waldrep of Blairsville.

Berry placed first in Global Analysis and Decision Making and third in Impromptu Speaking. O’Dell placed first in Financial Concepts and third in Personal Finance. Klopschinski placed first in Justice Administration, first in Local Chapter Annual Business Report and third in Community Service Project. Wells placed first in Microeconomics and first in Small Business Management Plan. Russell placed first in Organizational Behavior and Leadership. Karr placed first in Small Business Management Plan and third in Community Service Project. May placed first in Small Business Management Plan and fourth in Entrepreneurship Concepts. Wells placed first in Small Business Management Plan. Fountain placed first in Web Site Development and second in Cyber Security. Hill placed first in Web Site Development and fifth in Retail Management. Franks placed second in Business Decision Making along with Stephens. Waldrep placed second in Management Concepts and third in Accounting Principles.

“We had a great showing of participation and commitment from these students,” says Clarkesville PBL Advisor and NGTC instructor Tim Green. “NGTC had the largest group registered this year and I am personally proud of each and every one of them. I know we will be very well prepared to represent NGTC at our state conference next month.”

In addition to the individual accomplishments, the NGTC Blairsville Campus was selected as PBL Chapter of the Year, and advisor Mona Williams was selected as Advisor of the Year.

Wells and Berry were also elected to the 2019-2020 GA PBL Board as state officers.
