Mae Brown-Orr of Toccoa has been appointed as North Georgia Technical College’s (NGTC) Board of Directors.

Brown-Orr was administered the oath of office by Judge Chan Caudell at a recent NGTC Board of Directors meeting.

Brown-Orr is a graduate of Piedmont University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. A retired employee of the Georgia Department of Labor, she has extensive experience working for the state, serving more than 15 years for the Department of Labor.

Brown-Orr is active in her local community where she serves as treasurer of the Toccoa Improvement Association, board member of the City of Toccoa ABC, volunteer for the annual Wendell Sherman/Sandra Wheeler Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner, musician for the All About Grace Women’s Fellowship Praise Team, and former ambassador for the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she has served as the director of music ministry for more than 35 years.

“We are very pleased to have Mrs. Brown-Orr join the North Georgia Technical College Board of Directors as she brings a wealth of knowledge of the labor market and experience in workforce development,” said NGTC President John Wilkinson. “Her commitment to her community and respect among her colleagues makes her a wonderful addition to our college board, and I know our students will benefit from her years of service.”

Brown-Orr’s term is a three-year appointment, and she will represent Stephens County as an official board member.
