North Georgia Technical College has named David Savage as Chief of Campus Police effective April 16.
Savage served as Interim Campus Police Chief and has been employed as a police officer with the college since 2018. Savage has 37 years of law enforcement experience throughout the communities of Northeast Georgia, including his previous positions as Deputy Sheriff of Jackson County and Deputy Sheriff of Banks County.
Savage is a graduate of the Clayton County Regional Police Academy as well as a graduate of North Georgia Technical College and lives in Baldwin.
“As an alumnus of North Georgia Technical College, David continues to be a great ambassador of the college,” says NGTC Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Mike King in a campus announcement regarding Savage’s new appointment. “He will continue to be a familiar face across the campus as he and the officers will work to maintain and strengthen the rapport with our students, faculty and staff.”
NGTC President John Wilkinson says Savage’s prior service to the college and his experience make him an “ideal candidate” for the job. “Knowing he was once a student here makes his promotion very rewarding for all of us at the college.”
Savage is the third police chief at the NGTC in the past six years. He succeeds Mark Pulliam who left the job in January.
