North Georgia Technical College is closing its Clarkesville, Currahee and Blairsville campuses Monday due to the solar eclipse.
A statement from the college issued this afternoon says, “Due to the increased concern of safety for our students, faculty and staff traveling on the road with larger than normal traffic patterns for the eclipse Monday, ALL CAMPUSES of NGTC will be CLOSED all day on Monday, August 21, 2017.
NGTC’s three campuses are located in Habersham (Clarkesville), Stephens (Currahee), and Union (Blairsville) Counties which sit in the solar eclipse ‘path of totality.’ Tens-of-thousands of visitors are expected to travel into Northeast Georgia Monday to view the eclipse.
Public school systems in Habersham, Banks, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union and White Counties have all canceled classes due to traffic and public safety concerns.
