Northeast Georgia Medical Center Habersham recently achieved accreditation in Pain and Addiction Care in the Emergency Department (PACED) by the American College of Emergency Physicians.
The new accreditation now makes Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) the first health system in the state with five hospitals to provide that recognized level of care.
“Our priority is to ensure patients receive compassionate, timely care during their most difficult moments, and this accreditation is validation that we’re setting the standard,” said Angela Gary, executive director of Trauma and Emergency Services. “We all appreciate our emergency nurses, physicians and staff bringing their best every day.”
PACED accreditation lends recognition to emergency departments with a comprehensive program that ensures optimal care for patients suffering from pain and/or addiction through progressive treatment protocols, training and resources.
“It means so much to see our team recognized for the way they care for patients,” said Beth Hester, nurse manager at NGMC Habersham’s emergency department. “I’m constantly inspired by their kindness and dedication to making sure every patient feels cared for and supported when they need it most.”
