Good news for travelers on the north end of Habersham County. New Liberty Road is expected to reopen next week after months of repair work in the wake of Hurricane Delta.
Paving and guardrails are scheduled to be installed and the road should reopen on March 19. It’s been closed to through traffic in the area of Shoal Creek since October 21 due to flood damage.
Delta damaged a culvert and washed away some of the soil beneath the road, causing more than $616,000 in repairs.
The county has also contracted for repairs on Pardue Mill Road and issued a notice to proceed on March 1. According to a Habersham County news release, the contractor submitted required shop drawings that are under review by county staff and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The projected completion date for Pardue Mill Road is May 30.
