New juvenile judge appointed for Hall and Dawson Counties

Amanda Dean brings two decades of experience to the bench

Amanda Dean has been appointed as the new Northeastern Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court Judge.

Amanda Dean has been selected as the new juvenile judge for Hall and Dawson counties, the Northeastern Judicial Circuit recently announced.

Dean has 20 years of experience in the field and has served as a child welfare law specialist, special assistant attorney general, child advocate attorney, guardian ad litem, and parent attorney, the release said. She also previously served in the Northeastern circuit as a part-time Juvenile Court Judge Pro Tern from 2019-2022.

“We believe she steps into the role ready to serve on Day One, and we’re very grateful to have her back in the circuit,” said Chief Superior Court Judge Jason Deal. “She has both the heart and the experience to ably serve as a Juvenile Court Judge.”

Dean is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and resides in South Hall County with her husband and two sons. She will fill the juvenile court seat vacated by Matt Leipold, who resigned in June. Her appointment begins July 29.
