There’s a new hospice service in Habersham. Affinis Hospice opened earlier this year. The non-profit company is 5 years old and has 7 regional locations throughout Georgia. Jason Duke is the Community Outreach Coordinator for Habersham. For Duke, Habersham and hospice have personal connections. Duke’s Grandmother, Clara Galleshaw, lives in Habersham. Several years ago, Galleshaw’s husband was in hospice care. The experience left an impression on Duke and now he describes his job as “adding compassion and quality of life each and every day to those facing devastating conditions.”
Affinis provides a continuum of care with a collaborative team of caregivers. From equipment and 24hr. nursing services to homemaker services and social services, Affinis works with the patient, the family and doctors to provide support to the patient and much needed relief to the caregivers. Bereavement support is offered to patients and their families and is available to the family for over a year after the patient’s passing. Affinis also offers pediatric care.
If you have questions about hospice care contact a provider. They can step you through the process and help you determine if hospice care is right for you.
