The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office has released new details surrounding the arrest of a second suspect following a high-speed chase through the county on Monday.
Now Habersham obtained a supplemental incident report through an open records request. It states that Leigha Anglin Fausz was one of five people in a van that stopped at the scene after Keandre Sanford crashed his motorcycle into a rolling roadblock.
Two of the passengers in the van were small children, deputies say.
The van was registered in Florida. A woman who identified herself as Sanford’s cousin was driving and told officers they “were all going to Tennessee.”
According to the report, deputies observed Fausz appeared to be under the influence of drugs. After getting the driver’s permission to search the van, deputies say they found a lunchbox containing several small plastic bags of suspected methamphetamine and heroin.

“There was also several glass pipe type smoking devices containing narcotic residue,” the report states.
After questioning the vehicle’s adult occupants, deputies arrested Fausz for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, trafficking in methamphetamine, and possession of drug-related objects. As Fausz was being arrested, Sanford reportedly told officers to “charge him with the drugs” found in the van.
Sanford does not currently face drug charges in Habersham but he does face many other charges after allegedly leading deputies on an 18-mile chase, topping speeds of 131 mph.
As of Tuesday afternoon, August 24, both Fausz and Sanford remained in the Habersham County jail without bond.
