A warm spell will bring near-record highs to North Georgia on Tuesday afternoon.
High temperatures will reach well into the 70s for much of the region as high pressure builds in overhead. For most of the region, these highs will reach near record territory. The only place safe will be the higher elevations of the mountains where slightly cooler temps only in the upper-60s are expected.
These highs will be around 18-23 degrees above normal, a sweltering change from the bitter cold we experienced just a short 10 days ago.
A weak wedge of cooler air and increased clouds on Wednesday will keep us from getting back into record territory, and continued clouds and rain will keep us warm but still below records the rest of the week.
