National Day of Prayer events in Northeast Georgia

Local and national observances on May 1

On Thursday, May 1, the United States will observe the 74th annual National Day of Prayer (NDP). It is a day dedicated to unified public prayer for the nation. This year’s theme centers on hope and renewal.

Local events

In Northeast Georgia, several events are planned to observe the National Day of Prayer:​

Athens Area National Day of Prayer Breakfast: Held at The Classic Center in Athens, this event features keynote speaker Dr. William Flippin and music by Christy Freeland.

Georgia Capitol Service: A worship, praise, and prayer gathering on the south wing steps of the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, contact Teresa Cantrell at 770-380-3029

Habersham County National Day of Prayer Rolling Prayer Revival: Multiple prayer gatherings will be held across Habersham County, including locations in Alto, Baldwin, Clarkesville, Demorest, and Cornelia (see schedule below).

The Grant-Reeves VFW Post 7720 at 175 Cornelia Crossing in Cornelia, Georgia, will hold a National Day of Prayer Event at 9 a.m. For more information, contact Barry Church at 706-778-4981.
