The National Champion Georgia Bulldogs have declined an invitation to visit the White House.
The Georgia Athletic Association released a statement on Tuesday stating that the Bulldogs will not be able to attend the event on June 12 due to a scheduling conflict. The team received the invitation on May 3.
“Unfortunately, the date suggested is not feasible given the student-athlete calendar and time of year,” the statement read. “However, we are appreciative of the invitation and look forward to other opportunities for Georgia teams moving forward.”
The Bulldogs did not visit the White House after winning the championship last year, and neither did the Alabama Crimson Tide the year before due to COVID. The last national college football championship team to visit was the LSU Tigers in 2020, when Donald Trump was still president.
The Bulldogs beat the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs 65-7 in January to take home the College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy and end with a 15-0 perfect season.
