Blood donations have been in decline since the pandemic hit, and it’s taking a toll on Georgia’s blood supply. To help, MyGeorgia Credit Union will host several upcoming area blood drives at its branches in Gainesville, Clayton, Clarkesville, and Cleveland.
MyGeorgia, formerly HALLCO Community Credit Union, is teaming up with LifeSouth for the blood drives. The first is scheduled for Thursday, June 17, at the Clayton branch located at 81 East Savannah Street. Other dates are as follows:
- Tuesday, June 22: Gainesville branch – located at 2601 Limestone Parkway
- Tuesday, June 29: Clarkesville branch – located at 120 Church Sawmill Road
- Thursday, July 1: Cleveland branch – located at 379 East Kytle Street
MyGeorgia Credit Union President and CEO Joe Foster says these blood drives are an extension of the financial institution’s commitment to the communities it serves.
“We are truly honored to play a role in addressing the blood shortage in North Georgia – a move that will hopefully save a lot of lives,” Foster says. He encourages all MyGeorgia Credit Union members and the general public to visit a local branch and donate blood.
The credit union is also planning a series of pop-up Member Appreciation Days at its branch locations starting at the end of June and running through July.
MyGeorgia is a not-for-profit organization owned by its 20,000 members and directed by a voluntary board of directors. Membership is open to those living and working within a 12-county district, including Banks, Clarke, Dawson, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Rabun, and White Counties.
