Murder and a meal, that’s what is in store for you on this one-night-only murder mystery dinner theatre. Who doesn’t love a good mystery? Couple it with a fun cast and a victim who falls face-first into his mashed potatoes, and you’ve got an evening to remember.

A first for HCT

It’s a first for Habersham Community Theater, and Director Susan Watson is excited for the evening. “I’ve never done dinner theater before but I’ve organized weddings for 3 daughters, so I’m approaching this evening like a wedding reception with entertainment.”

Watson has an incredible history with HCT. “We are very blessed in our community to have an active and thriving local theater. Theater is a group effort, even a one-man show has multiple individuals working together to make it happen,” Watson added.

She described the creativity that each person brings to the production. With so much emphasis on electronic sources for entertainment, experiencing theatre will be a game changer. The evening will not disappoint, and Watson expresses it is something you do not want to miss.

Watson said that this is a live performance and the audience has opportunities to be an active participant if they would like to be. There is mutual involvement as the energy and responses of the audience give back to the performers, who respond and give back more to the audience.

Along with enjoying a delightful evening out at The Manor restaurant (known locally as the Clarkesville Community House), diners will become witnesses to a murder. The Clarkesville Community House is located at 157 Mary Street in Clarkesville.

The investigation unfolds between the four-course meal. As the guests enjoy their meal, the actors will “hobnob” and answer questions regarding clues and character relationships.

The plot

As a diner, you are encouraged to discuss clues with others around you. Who knows? Maybe you will solve the mystery and determine who the killer is before the “top-notch” investigator does.

Artemus Ward has a knife in his back and a face full of mashed potatoes. The local coroner ironically is dining at the same restaurant. She is newly elected and eager to lead the investigation. It is sure to give her a career boost in the process!

Everyone has a motive in this twisted murder mystery. Ward is the head of a lucrative publishing busy. As the story unravels, you will recognize the characters and why each has a possibility of being the murderer. Reginald is heir to the publishing business.  Major, who wrote the company’s bestseller, hasn’t received his royalties. Alexis is a four-time widow of husbands who died at the dinner table. The destitute nephew, Bernie, is from the mailroom. And Eileen Morrow is a backstabbing attorney.

Ticket information

It is only one night and tickets are going fast. The seating is limited to 120 maximum for  Saturday, September 21, at 7 p.m. You will enjoy a 4-course dinner catered by the famous Natalie Jane’s Catering. A cash bar for beer and wine is available.
