Opened every day, all day, in Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia at the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia located at 283 Hwy 255 North, the exhibit brings together generations of folk potters and accentuates their camaraderie and familial ties.

The Exhibit “Collaboration”

“Collaboration” spotlights pottery pieces co-created by several potters. From parents, husbands, wives, siblings, cousins, and neighbors, the works of art reflect the collaborative efforts of all potters working together.

“This exhibition not only showcases the beauty and diversity of folk pottery but also celebrates the spirit of collaboration that has defined this vibrant community for generations. It’s a testament to the power of working together,” Emily DeFoor, Director of the Folk Pottery Museum.

Admission is free and it is suitable for all ages. The Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia is open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. It is located at 283 Highway 255 North, ¼ mile north of the intersection with Georgia Highway 17, and four miles southeast of Alpine Helen.

Join a class

There is an opportunity to join a class inspired by the “Collaboration” exhibit. Instructors Daniel Bollinger and Celena Schoen, two of the featured potters in the exhibit, will lead this workshop.

It is a two-hour session on August 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Students will collaborate to transform plain jugs into creative face jugs. Each participant will start with a jug and sculpt it for 30 minutes before passing it to their neighbor to continue the work. By the end of the class, each jug will have been shaped and enhanced by four different students.

The face jug that the individuals finish with is the one taken home.

After the class, the face jugs are left for a few weeks for glazing and firing. Instructors will notify students when their pieces are ready for pickup. The class fee includes all instruction, materials, and firing costs. Don’t miss this opportunity to create a unique piece of collaborative art! This opportunity is for ages 16 and up. The cost is $125 per person.
