Three injured in two wrecks on GA-365 in Cornelia

Traffic is moving again on GA-365 in Cornelia after two near-simultaneous wrecks this afternoon.

The accidents occurred around 3:15 p.m. near the exit to Commerce on U.S. 441 South.

According to the State Patrol, the first wreck happened when a White Honda Civic traveling north on GA-365 blew a tire and ran into the median. The car then struck a road sign.

About the same time, a Grey Toyota Avalon came off of the on-ramp onto GA-365 southbound and was rear-ended by a Blue Honda CRV. Those vehicles also ended up in the median.

Five patients were treated at the scene. Habersham EMS transported three of them to the hospital.

The accident stalled traffic for more than an hour as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
