A Martin, GA woman has been cited for following too closely in connection with a three-car wreck in Demorest.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, 55-year old Terry Yearwood set off a chain reaction when she failed to stop in traffic that was stalled following an earlier wreck.
The first accident occurred on GA 365 at Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway. It involved multiple vehicles and impacted both north and southbound lanes.
GSP Sgt. Chad Johnson says officers were arriving on the scene of the initial crash when the second one occurred around 8:44pm.
He says Yearwood was traveling north in the right lane of GA 365 just south of Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway when her 1994 Ford Taurus rear-ended a Honda Odyssey van driven by 57-year old Tri Truong of Duluth, GA. The impact pushed the Honda into a Chevy HHR driven by 34-year old Karen Godsoe of Toccoa.
Johnson says a passenger in the van, 41-year old Luu Truong of Duluth, complained of injuries to her torso but refused treatment. Yearwood had a visible injury to her head but also refused treatment at the scene. She was cited for following too closely.
According to witnesses, several people were sent to the hospital as a result of the initial wreck. Early reports indicated that accident involved four vehicles. Details have not yet been released.
