Stephens County K-9s demonstrate skills during visit to Mountain Ed

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office recently engaged with students and faculty at Stephens County Mountain Education Charter High School in Eastanollee.

During the visit, deputies shared insights into their role as K-9 handlers, including details about the rigorous training regimen he and his canine partner, K-9 Reba, undergo.

A highlight of the visit was a live demonstration, where a K-9 handler showcased K-9 Reba’s skills in locating training items hidden within the classroom.

After successfully finding the items, Reba was rewarded with her favorite toy. The students had the chance to meet Reba up close and learn more about the valuable work she does alongside her handler.

In addition to the K-9 demonstration, Sheriff Rusty Fulbright, Major Bill Zigan, Major Jimmy Mize spoke with the students about the duties and qualifications required to pursue a career in law enforcement.
