The Mt. Airy Town Council will meet Monday to consider purchasing a license plate reader system and computer upgrades for town hall.

The council will consider purchasing a license plate reader system that will notify Mt. Airy police officers if a vehicle’s license plate registration has been suspended or does not have active insurance. It will notify authorities of a vehicle identified through an Amber Alert or Mattie’s Call. The reader will also alert authorities of a vehicle that has been identified as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, such as a stolen vehicle case.

The town council will consider Windows 11 updates for the town’s computer system.
