Mrs. Mozelle Looney Stowe, age 96 of Eastanollee entered into the presence of her Lord on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Stephens County Hospital.
A daughter of the late Hubert and Maude Mitchell Looney, she was born April 16, 1921 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life. She was a homemaker and spent 40 plus years of her life being a pastor’s wife. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, loved by all who came in contact with her. She loved her church family. She enjoyed working in her flowers, reading and working word search puzzles and doing things for her family and friends. She was a member of Tom’s Creek Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J.W. Stowe in 2009, by two brothers, Hoyt and J.C. Looney, a sister, Florene Jordan, son-in-law, Rev. Walter Gilbert, daughter-in-law, Susan Stowe, great-grandson, Josh Barron and two great-granddaughters, Faith Lyn and Lydia Ann Thomason.
Survivors include her children, Rev. Tommy and Marsha Stowe of Mt., Airy, Jannie Gilbert of Stone Mountain, Linda and Larry Haley of Hartwell, Rev. Jerry and Erlene Stowe of Homer, Judy and Dennis Thomason of Eastanollee and Pat and Garry Moore of Toccoa; twenty grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren and another one on the way; sister-in-law, Pearl Looney of Eastanollee; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2018, 11 O’clock a.m. at Tom’s Creek Baptist Church with The Reverend Wayne Marcus and The Reverend Andy Duke officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Doug Haley, Travis Thomason, James Thomason, Kevin Gilbert, Patrick Stowe, Matt Stowe and David Rider.
The family will be at the home on Highway 145, Eastanollee and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences can be made at www.acree-davisfh.com.
