Motorists warned to stay off GA 400 corridor

ALERT: HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS DUE TO TREES DOWN IN DAWSON, FORSYTH AND LUMPKIN COUNTIES

State Routes and the Georgia 400 corridor in Dawson, Forsyth and Lumpkin counties have been severely impacted by downed trees as a result of icing on trees and power lines. These downed trees are currently impacting the Georgia DOT’s and the Forestry Service crew’s ability to address the debris and clear roadways. Motorists are warned to stay away from these specific corridors and to stay off the roads, if possible.

The following are road closures due to downed trees:
Dawson county—SR 136 over Burnt Mountain and SR 52 within Dawson county.
Lumpkin county—SR 52 West of Dahlonega; SR 115 and SR 9

Motorists are advised to call 511 to report icy conditions or downed trees on interstates and state routes. Motorists are also advised to postpone travel until daylight hours when these hazardous conditions are more visible.
