A Gillsville man faces charges after leading authorities on a motorcycle chase. 35-year-old Erick Joe Harry was arrested after he wrecked and tried to run from a state trooper.
The near 11-mile long chase began around 9:28 p.m. Friday on Highway 365 near White Sulphur Road in Hall County. That’s when the trooper says he observed a 2003 Yamaha YZF600R traveling north at a high rate of speed. When he tried to stop the motorcycle, the biker continued driving north and evaded him.
The officer pursued the motorcycle onto Mud Creek Road. The motorcyclist then ran through a stop sign at the intersection of Old Cornelia Highway and drove onto the shoulder of the road. The trooper also pulled onto the shoulder of the road. “The motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle and struck the Trooper’s car,” according to GSP.
After a short foot chase the suspect was apprehended.
GSP says no one was injured in the accident.
Harry is charged with attempting to elude officers, which is a felony. GSP also charged him with driving unlicensed, speeding, failure to obey traffic control, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to stop at a stop sign, improper tag, and failure to change address within 30 days.
