The Georgia State Patrol has released details of an accident in Mt. Airy that claimed the life of a mother and seriously injured her 9-year old daughter.
The single-vehicle accident occurred on GA 365 near Cody Road in front of Habersham Hills Cinema just before 3 p.m. Sunday.
Habersham County Deputy Coroner Ken Franklin says the driver, 28-year old Jordan Rineheart of Mt. Airy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to eyewitnesses and officials, Rineheart was traveling in the left southbound lane of GA 365 when her Toyota 4 Runner ran onto the shoulder of the road. She overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. Sgt. David Lunsford with the Georgia State Patrol says the SUV traveled into the median where it “struck a drainage culvert and began to overturn.” The vehicle continued to overturn across the median and northbound lanes, before finally coming to rest on the east shoulder of the highway.
Rineheart’s daughter, Irys Frankum, was riding in the front passenger seat at the time of the accident. She was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where, according to family members, she was treated and released.
