Mother cat recovering after being found with kittens zip-tied to her leg

Authorities in White County are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty in which a mother cat was found with her three kittens zip-tied to her back right leg.

According to wrwh.com, the animals were found July 12th by property owners on Highway 255. One of the kittens was already dead.

The frightened feline and her litter were taken to Animal Control and then to a local vet where attempts to save the surviving kittens failed.

The mother cat’s leg was so swollen from having her circulation cut off that vets thought they might have to amputate it, but they didn’t. The swelling went down and it now appears the cat, who rescuers named Aura, will be fine.

As news of the incident spread on social media, White County residents expressed outrage calling the person or persons responsible “scumbag” and “psychopath.”

Fortunately, there are also angels in this story.

Aura spent the weekend at Cleveland Veterinary Hospital where she was treated, spayed and vaccinated and received lots of tender loving care.

The pet rescue group Angels Among Us stepped in to pay for Aura’s medical care and to find her a forever home. She was released into foster care Monday and will be available for adoption once she’s fully recovered.
