A citizen’s tip about possible drug activity landed three Rabun Gap residents in jail. Rabun County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Frances Evans Doling, 67, her son, John-Everett Doling, 28, and Matthew Charles Bosch, 31, in connection with the case.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation began June 18 as deputies followed up on the tip at 737 Hope Haven Lane. Deputies executed search warrants at the residence and on a storage unit several miles away. Authorities say they found a large stash of weapons, ammunition, and suspected drugs, including methamphetamine, marijuana, edibles, psilocybin mushrooms, acid, and ecstasy.
Investigators also reportedly discovered the remains of several birds inside the home, including the federally-protected red tail hawk. The Department of Natural Resources was called to assist with that part of the investigation.
The suspects are all charged with drug possession with intent to distribute and possession and use of drug-related objects. In addition, authorities charged John-Everett Doling with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. They charged Bosch with drug trafficking and three DNR violations for hunting, possessing, and transporting birds.
As of July 9, all three remained in the Rabun County Detention Center.
