More than 5 million Georgians are expected to cast ballots in the November 3 General Election. If you want to be one of them, today’s your last day to register to vote. Registration ends at the close of business today, Monday, October 5.
Three weeks of early in-person voting starts Monday, October 12. Early voting ends October 30, the Friday before Election Day. Check with your county for specific poll information.
Absentee ballot deadline
If you’re voting absentee, your ballot must be received by your local election office by 7 p.m. on Election Day. A federal appeals court overturned a judge’s earlier ruling that would have given voters three more days to return their ballots.
About 1.4 million Georgians have already received or requested absentee ballots for the election.
You can request an absentee ballot through your local election office or online at ballotrequest.sos.ga.gov.
The U.S. Postal Service suggests people mail their ballots at least seven days before the deadline. Many counties are maintaining drop boxes for voters to deposit absentee ballots up until 7 p.m. November 3. Check with your local elections office for more information on drop box locations.
