Franklin County deputies recovered a missing juvenile from Washington and arrested an Idaho man during a traffic stop early Friday morning. Sheriff Scott Andrews said deputies were alerted by a Flock Safety camera to a vehicle tied to a missing person.
The driver, 25-year-old Caelen Dennis of Idaho, was identified as both a missing adult and a registered sex offender prohibited from contact with minors. Inside the vehicle, deputies discovered the missing child. The juvenile’s name is being withheld due to their age.
According to the Idaho Sex Offender Registry, Dennis was convicted in 2023 of lewd conduct with a minor child under the age of 16. The Registry noted that he failed his last annual processing.
Deputies arrested Dennis and booked him at the Franklin County Detention Center.
Sheriff Andrews stressed the importance of online safety, noting, “This incident highlights the importance of parents closely monitoring their children’s online activity and social media interactions to help keep them safe.”
