A former White County Manager will temporarily come out of retirement after the abrupt resignation of former County Manager Joey Cason.
Following a called meeting Thursday morning of the White County Board of Commissioners, the commission announced that Michael Melton will serve as Interim County Manager following Cason’s resignation at the beginning of the week.
A news release from the commission office said that Melton will begin work on Monday, March 28. Melton, who retired as White County Manager in May of 2020 had served in that capacity since 2012.
The release said that Melton will serve in this interim role as the board conducts a search for a County Manager on a permanent basis.
“As the Board continues our search for a full-time county manager the board wants to see our citizens served with the best customer service,” Commission Chairman Travis Turner said. “Mike’s working knowledge will help keep business moving forward. I appreciate Mike’s willingness to return to serve our citizens on an interim basis.”
