Michael “Mike” Philmon Gaddis, age 78, of Dahlonega, Georgia, formerly of Habersham County, Georgia, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
Mr. Gaddis was born on October 25, 1944, in Hall County, Georgia, to the late Verdell and Braska Garner Gaddis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Self; siblings, Jerry Gaddis, Larry Gaddis, Wilma Nix, Kaye Purcell, Donald Gaddis, Jackie Gaddis; grandson, Tucker Grizzle; and great-grandson, Syre King.
Mike was retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections with 28 years of service. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Gaddis was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Mike will be remembered as an avid fisherman. He enjoyed golf, traveling, and spending time as “Pop” with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Abernathy Gaddis, of Dahlonega; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Theresa Gaddis, of Demorest; Ronnie and Jennifer Grizzle, of Dahlonega; daughter, Denise Cowart, of Dahlonega; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sandy Grizzle, of Dahlonega; Jeff and Teresa Grizzle, of Dahlonega; son-in-law, Everett Self, of Dahlonega; sister, Faye Smallwood, of Homer; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, prior to the service.
