The Piedmont College men’s soccer team screamed past Toccoa Falls College with a convincing 7-0 victory over the Screaming Eagles. The Lions’ offensive threat was unleashed in the second period as Piedmont scored six goals in the second half.
Piedmont took the lead in the first half in the 20th minute as freshman VICTOR MUNOZ scored his second goal of his career making it 1-0 Lions. The onslaught of goals by Piedmont came in the second period where the Lions scored six goals including three within a six and half minute period midway through.
The first goal of the second half came from sophomore NATHAN METZGER who headed it in following a corner kick.CHASE KANE followed suit netting his first of the night in the 59th minute while scoring again in the 82nd minute for Piedmont’s final goal of the evening.
CHRIS KELLER saw his first goal of the 2016 season scoring to make it 4-0 off the assist by JOSE LINARES, then it was CULLEN COPLAND who scored a pair in the 69th and 73rd minutes for goals five and six.
The Lions last netted seven goals back in 2010 in a 7-1 season opening victory over Tennessee Temple University. Piedmont now moves to 2-1 overall and will travel to take on Sewanee on Saturday.

–The Lions came out of the halftime huddle firing away as Piedmont had a total of six goals in the second half of play.
Standout Performances
—CULLEN COPLAND had a pair of goals as the sophomore had his first multi-goal game of his career.
—CHASE KANE also added a pair of the Lions while tacking on an assist in the contest.
Inside the Box Score
–Piedmont had 33 shots in the game while the defense held the Screaming Eagles to just one shot on the evening.
— Five different Lions scored in Tuesday night’s contest.
News & Notes
–This marks Piedmont’s highest-scoring victory since a 2010 7-1 win over Tennessee Temple University in the season opener.
–Piedmont’s 33 shots were the fourth-most ever taken in NCAA Era program history.
