An Alto woman who was found murdered this past weekend will be laid to rest on Saturday.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on March 14 for 43-year-old Alecia Grace Stover. The service will be held in the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland. The family will receive visitors from 12 noon until the service.
Stover was a native of Habersham County and an assistant manager at Walmart. Her body was discovered outside a burning log cabin on Yonah Post Road in Alto on March 7. Autopsy results revealed she died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Suspect charged
Stover reportedly was in a relationship with her alleged killer, Jeramy Chastain, 30, of Dahlonega. He recently was released from prison, according to officials.
In October 2015, Chastain was arrested in Forsyth County and charged with battery and aggravated assault with intent to murder in an unrelated case. He also has a list of prior arrests and interactions with law enforcement in Lumpkin County, jail records obtained by Now Habersham show.
Before deputies arrested him in Clarkesville on March 7, authorities say Chastain had no prior arrests in Habersham County. Sheriff’s Lt. Matthew Wurtz says Chastain and Stover were in “some type of relationship” and that Chastain had lived at the Alto residence before the murder.
