Melvin Bridges, age 78, of Gainesville, entered rest Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at his residence with his family by his side.
Melvin was born July 9, 1943, in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Otis & Viola Hatcher Bridges. He retired from General Motors with over 30 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Kisner.
Left to cherish his memory, wife of 60 years, Barbara Bridges; son, Melvin Lamar (Angie) Bridges; daughter, Lynn (Benji) Carlisle; grandchildren, Amanda (Austin) Herring, Magan (Zach) Licona, Brody Carlisle & Hunter Bridges; great-grandchildren, Mary Caroline Herring, Sarah Grace Herring & Roland Colt Spradley; brother, Marvin (Lula Bell) Bridges; sister, Margie (John) Harris; a number of nieces & nephews also survive.
Services honoring Melvin’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Cagle officiating. Burial will follow in New Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. & again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the funeral home.
