Meet Now Habersham’s newest team member

Wallace "Wally" Wenn joins the Now Habersham Team as ad executive and columnist.

He is no stranger to Habersham County, having owned Once Upon A Time, Co. in downtown Clarkesville, GA. from 1985 – 2021. There is very little Wallace “Wally” Wenn hasn’t done in life, from serving our country in the Navy and earning the Combat Action Ribbon and Presidential Unit Citation Award to a journalist, marketing director, newspaper, and teacher.

Married to Dellie for 52 years, the couple shares two daughters Maraiah and Sarah. Wally and Dellie ran Once Upon a Time Antiques on the Clarkesville square for many years, holding auctions and appraising vintage items. His love for restoring antiques is evident, and he will share that and his knowledge of Northeast Georgia’s history in our newly launched “Now and Then” column.

Wally’s experience in advertising and sales is vast.

“As someone who has sold advertising for many years, I don’t think there is a holy grail, one size fits all for anyone. Every media outlet has an audience, but it is important to find what works for your business,” Wenn explains.

While in the Navy, Wenn put out a daily newspaper. He describes it as the whole “Good Morning Vietnam” type. He and another guy updated the ship on all that was happening, adding fillers from military news services. He reminisced about being reprimanded for doing a story about cockroaches on the ship. He was called into his commander’s office and consequently did not do any other stories on cockroaches.

“Digital Media fills our lives,” Wenn explained. “I am fascinated by the fact we no longer have to do paper.”

Wenn was General Manager of The Grizzly Newspaper in Big Bear Lake, California, for several years.

“85% of the population runs around with a cellphone in front of their face, and it is important for your business to be in front of them,” he added.

To be on the cutting edge of a rapidly growing news source is exciting to Wenn.

“Now Habersham is turning in the numbers of viewership at an unbelievable pace. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?”

Wenn will be heading the advertising team at Now Habersham and would love to talk with you about the opportunity to reach potential customers. You can contact him for more information at 706-499-8460 or [email protected].
