A Maysville man died early Thursday, Jan. 16, when the van he was driving landed upside down in a creek south of Homer.
66-year-old Steven Dale Baxter was traveling south on McDonald Circle when he failed to negotiate a curve, according to Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville. The 2008 Chrysler Town & Country van Baxter was driving ran off the road and down an embankment. It overturned and came to rest upside down partially submerged in a creek.
The wreck happened around 6:30 a.m. Troopers say no other vehicles or people were involved in the crash.
The Banks County Coroner pronounced Baxter dead at the scene.
