Funeral services for Maud Ree Thompson Broom, age 88, of Demorest, Georgia will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 4:00 PM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville. Rev. Michael Randall will officiate with interment to follow the service in Baldwin City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
Mrs. Broom passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 following a period of declining health.
Born in Banks County on July 12, 1928, Mrs. Broom was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Pauline Gables Thompson. Mrs. Broom was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Broom was preceded in death by husband Marion Broom and daughter Sarah Jean Farmer.
Survivors include son Branson Broom of Banks County, daughters Dorothy Wheeler of Gainesville, Patricia Gailey of Demorest, Gail Foster of Banks County, Barbara Randall of Mt. Airy, and Debbie Stover of Clarkesville, as well as 16 grandchildren.
