Mary Ivester Rohletter, 95, formerly of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on May 13, 2024.
Mrs. Rohletter was born in Hollywood, Georgia, on July 6, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Lamar and Lila Ivester and was the last remaining member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ray H. Rohletter, her brothers, Archie Ivester, VanNess Ivester, Lamar Ivester, Jr., and her sisters, Genieva Ivester McCurry and Edith Ivester Ramey.
Mary was employed for many years as a paraprofessional at Demorest Elementary and especially enjoyed helping the students and the many lifelong friends she made throughout her time working. Mary enjoyed her bridge clubs, reading a good book, and summers at Lake Burton with family and friends. Some of Mary’s best memories were of her and Ray’s time living in Atlanta while Ray was enrolled at Georgia Tech. During this time, she became an avid Georgia Tech fan and enjoyed cheering on her GT Yellow Jackets and hoping for a win over the Georgia Bulldogs! While living in Demorest, she and Ray were members of Demorest Methodist Congregational Federated Church.
Mary is survived by her children Joel Rohletter (Martha), Jennifer Rohletter Chambers (Robert), and Amanda Rohletter Powell, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
For the past nine years, Mary has lived in Atlanta at Kings Bridge Retirement Community. During her residency there, Mary made many friends and received wonderful care during her last few years on the Memory Care floor. Her family is especially grateful to the team of nurses who made her last few months as comfortable as possible.
Mary’s family will have a private graveside service and will receive guests on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your charity of choice in Mary’s name.
