Mary Frances Garrett Nation

Mary Frances Garrett Nation, age 86 of Homer, passed away Tuesday, January 01, 2019.

Born in Banks County on December 17, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Mamie Lou Brown Garrett. Mrs. Nation was retired from the Banks County School System as a custodian. She was of the Holiness faith and enjoyed reading her Bible, word search puzzles, playing Bingo, and walking.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Nation; sons, William H. Nation and Lee Dorsey Nation; brothers, Eldge Garrett, Horace Garrett, Charles Garrett, Willie Garrett, and J. D. Garrett; sisters, Jessie Leachman, Pauline Garrett, Doris Garrett, Ruby Garrett, and Grace Moore. Mrs. Nation was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou & Mitchell Dill of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Buck & Kendra Nation of Gainesville; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Thursday, January 03, 2019, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 pm until the funeral hour.
