Marvin James Smith

Marvin James Smith, age 74 of Toccoa, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at his residence.

Born in the Charm House on August 3, 1948, Marvin was the son of the late James N. and Goldie Harkins Smith. He was a machinist and retired from Gilbert and Bennett and later Vermont – American. Marvin was an egg farmer and he also had worked in surveying. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and garden. Marvin was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by brother Travis Smith.

Survivors include daughters Tracie Lynn Smith of Carnesville, Jodie Heather Smith of Royston and Brandie Smith Hunter (Erik) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, brothers Hugh Smith (Betty) and Lamar Smith (Patty) of Toccoa, girlfriend Louise Keller of Toccoa, grandchildren A. J. Ricci (Cezann), Abby Ricci, Weslie Hunter and Jon Hayes Hunter, great-grandchildren Boston Ricci and Raleigh Ricci, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Pastor Chris Webb, officiating. Interment will follow the service in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
