Marty Spivey Carroll

Marty Spivey Carroll, age 83 of Cornelia, Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, August 31, 2022, while holding the hand of her son, Don.

Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on June 06, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Fred & Gladys Ramsey Spivey. Marty was a graduate of North Habersham High School, Class of 1957.

She was the planner, the organizer, the magnet that drew family and friends together. Marty was a wife, a mother, a sister, a grandmother and great-grandmother, a coworker and a friend and wore each of those titles with pride.

She was a traveler – having been fortunate enough to visit many parts of the world, spreading her smile and laughter as she went. Marty was an artist – always crafting some beautiful little creation or writing a heartfelt poem. She was a chef – always eager to try a new recipe on willing friends & family, rarely disappointing anyone.

She was a fighter – having defeated breast cancer and pneumonia twice each, only to succumb to unexpected complications stemming from pancreatic cancer. Her final hours came both far too quickly and painfully slowly. Most of all, she was an amazing, humble woman and she will be missed by many.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Ron Carroll; Son & Daughter-in-law, Don and Britt McAllister and granddaughter, Margot. Bonus children, Patty Carroll, Peggy & Doug Moeller, Roger and Cari Carroll along with many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Merle Free, Bob Spivey, Wanda McAllister, Mary Miller and Lois Guthrie.

A celebration of Life is planned for September 18th, from noon until 3 pm at the Cornelia Community House.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, which provided Marty and our family and friends with great care and comfort during this time. https://www.nghs.com/foundation/hospice
