Martha Dean, age 85, of Clarkesville, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022.
Born on May 14, 1936, in Florida, she was a daughter of the late Jeff and Annie West Mikell. Mrs. Dean retired from United Telephone with 20 years of dedicated service. She was a Godly, devoted Christian who enjoyed going to church and quoting scripture. Mrs. Dean was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She was a selfless and charitable person that donated her goods to help others. She also enjoyed cooking, going to the beach, fishing, and the outdoors. Martha was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Stephen Dean, Sr; brothers: L.J. Mikell, Jr., Tom Mikell, and Ron Mikell; and sisters: Lucille McClellan, Grace Williams, Dot Gould, Leona Smucker, Bernice McGee, and Ruth Wiggins.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Loretta Futch of Cleveland; stepsons and spouses, Allen Stephen Dean, Jr. and Melissa of Stockbridge and Randall Brian Dean and Shawn of Mansfield; grandchildren and spouses: Amanda and Adam Sockwell of Atlanta, Rachel and B.J. Meaders of Cleveland, Annie Futch of Cleveland, Jesse Futch of Cleveland, Grayson Danes of Mansfield, and Evan Danes of Mansfield; great-grandson, Andrew Meaders; sister, Mary Davis of Lake City, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Don Drawdy officiating. All family and friends should meet at the cemetery by 1:45 pm on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a ‘Special Thanks’ to Jim and Ann Head, Janice Purdy, and the Providence Baptist Church Family for their care during Mrs. Dean’s recent illness.
