Athens-Clarke County police have arrested a man and charged him with trafficking marijuana after 31 pounds of the drug was found in his Athens apartment.
The Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office developed information regarding a possible drug distribution network in Athens-Clarke County on Oct. 31, police said.
After an investigation, the task force and the Athens-Clarke County Police Department Gang Unit searched the apartment of Cedric Maurice Burton, 43, on Westpark Drive.
Police said they found 31 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana, $16,000 in cash, drug packaging materials and a pistol during the search.
Burton was charged with trafficking in marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
