Margaret Spears “Cissy” Best

Margaret Spears “Cissy” Best, age 64 of Demorest, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015.

Born in Barnwell, South Carolina, on August 31, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Polly Carnell Best. Mrs. Best worked for Cornelia & Clarkesville Veterinary Hospital for over 20 years. As a young woman Cissy was very involved with the Tennessee Walking Horse community.  In the later years of her life, Cissy became known as the “soap lady” to many, creating her own line of beautiful handmade soaps and creams.  

Survivors include sons, Martin Wright (Jessie Hawkins) of Demorest and Thomas Carter (Blake Carter) of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Hannah Wood of Senoia, Georgia and Aiden Hawkins of Demorest; sister, Martha Lee O’Neal of Blowing Rock, North Carolina; several cousins, other relatives, close friends and fur baby, Beans Best.

Sharing tales of those we have lost is how we keep from really losing them.

The family invites you to come share your memories and celebrate the life of a truly beautiful and bold soul.  

A living tribute tree dedication will be held at 4:30 pm Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Clarkesville Veterinary Hospital, 6637 Highway 115, Clarkesville, Georgia 30523 

A pot luck celebration will follow at 1210 Skylake Road, Sautee, Georgia 30571. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cissy’s Fund for Animals In Need, c/o Cornelia and Clarkesville Veterinary Hospital, 6637 Highway 115, Clarkesville, Georgia 30523.
