Mardi Gras in Clarkesville

There’s no need to head to the Big Easy next month – you can celebrate Mardi Gras in Clarkesville. Clarkesville Main Street is hosting the 3rd Annual Clarkesville Mardi Gras on Saturday, February 7. The party will run from 6-11pm at the Habersham Event Center in the Old Clarkesville Mill.

The event is a fundraiser for the Downtown Clarkesville Façade/Sign Grant, a financial assistance program available to business and building owners in the downtown district.

The masquerade fundraiser includes dancing, drinks, N’awlins-style cuisine, a photo booth and the crowning of the King and Queen.  A silent auction will also take place in the hallway outside of the ballroom.

“This event has been very well-received in this community,” explain Clarkesville Main Street Manager Mary Beth Horton. “Because 100% of the ticket and silent auction proceeds go to downtown beatification and restoration projects, it allows attendees to feel like stakeholders.” “Plus,” Horton adds, “it’s a chance to get dressed up and dance and mingle with your neighbors. And don’t forget the masks and beads. But for those who come bead-less, there will be boxes of them, along with masks for everyone.”

This event usually sells out quickly so you need to make your plans now.

Tickets are $30 each. To make reservations for this limited-seating event, come to the Clarkesville Main Street office, 458 Jefferson Street Clarkesville, call 706-754-2220 or visit www.clarkesvillega.com.
