This year’s Ambassador Baby is Emmy Lou Wright. Emmy Lou’s parents, Josh and Candace Wright of Demorest, share that she was born weighing 1 pound, 8 ounces at 29 weeks gestation. Her early birth came as a result of a growth restriction. After staying in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for 94 days, she weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces. She was released from the hospital with no need for oxygen or any other medical equipment.

“As her parents, we feel so blessed,” says Emmy Lou’s mother. “In honor of her fight for life, we have decided to join the March of Dimes March for Babies to do our part to help premature babies.”

The March will take place “rain or shine” and those who want to participate may register at the event at 6 p.m. or online at www.marchforbabies.org.
