In an emailed press release issued Friday, Banks County Sheriff’s Sgt. Carissa McFadden says Stockton was located at an address on Gillsville Lake Road after someone called 9-1-1 and alerted authorities he was there. Waldrop was picked up a short time later walking along Queen Road.
Stockton is charged with theft by receiving a stolen vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, weaving over the roadway and obstruction of officers. Waldrop is charged with obstruction of officers.
Both were transported to the Banks County Law Enforcement Center.
According to McFadden, Stockton was driving the gold BMW that was reported stolen out of North Carolina. Waldrop was a passenger in the vehicle. Two other passengers, identified as 37-year old Tommy Tench of Maysville and 30-year old Sheena McGonigle of Commerce, were detained at the crash site on outstanding warrants. Tench faces additional charges of obstruction of an officer and possession of a dangerous drug.
