Man reports being ‘shot in the head’ during altercation in Clarkesville

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged shooting that occurred Sunday night in Clarkesville.

Deputies were dispatched around 9 p.m. to an address on Talmadge Drive in Hollywood in reference to an assault call. When they arrived the victim told them “he believed that he had been shot in the head,” says Sheriff’s spokesperson Lt. Matthew Wurtz.

Deputies indicated they observed a “large open injury ” to the victim’s head. The victim told deputies the injury occurred at a residence on Canyon Drive in Clarkesville. The man said he went there and was attacked by several unknown males. One of them reportedly had a pistol and pointed it at the victim and a female.

The injured man was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office. Wurtz says investigators are waiting to hear back from doctors on what caused the man’s injury.

He says the suspects were believed to be in a black four door sedan, possibly a KIA.
