Hall County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have sent the body of a Talmo man to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy in an ongoing death investigation that began Wednesday morning, April 21.
The deceased man is identified as Richard Clay Moon, 53. Investigators have notified his next of kin.
At approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, workers in the area discovered Moon’s body outside of his residence in the 4000 block of Talmo Road. They called 911, and deputies responded to the scene.
“Due to the layout of the property and heavy woods, numerous resources from the Sheriff’s Office also responded to search and secure the area,” says Hall County Sheriff’s spokesperson Derreck Booth.
According to the initial investigation, Moon died within a 24-hour window of when his body was found.
“There appears to have been a struggle,” Booth said. There were signs Moon suffered blunt force trauma. His cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending autopsy results.
Detectives are working the case as a suspicious death. They have not ruled out homicide, but Booth says there are no suspects at this time.
