An Auburn, Georgia, man is in jail accused of kidnapping a Hall County woman at gunpoint. Moises David Peguero, 33, is charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping.
According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the victim arrived home Wednesday, Jan. 13 to find Peguero in her driveway. The two were previously in a relationship, officials say.
The preliminary investigation shows Peguero allegedly loaded a handgun in the victim’s presence, chambered a round of ammunition, and forced her into his vehicle at gunpoint. He also grabbed the victim’s hair and one of her legs to prevent her from getting out, investigators say. Peguero drove around with the woman in his vehicle before returning to her residence.
When they arrived back at her residence in the 300 block of Highland Terrace off the Atlanta Highway, the victim escaped and called for help. Officers arrived at the scene around 1:20 p.m. to find that the suspect had fled.
Deputies issued a law enforcement be on the lookout (BOLO) for Peguero, and investigators were able to find a Barrow County address for him. Barrow County Sheriff’s deputies took him into custody at approximately 5 p.m. Wednesday and turned him over to Hall County deputies.
A sheriff’s department spokesman says the case remains under investigation.
